I really appreciate a quiet little thriller like this that can exist without action sequences or memorable set pieces and still be engaging.
The drama is very high, which will probably feel emotionally-manipulative to some, but it's those events that give Gyllenhaal so much to sink his teeth into.
The story is about defying what is expected of you no matter the cost, the power of free will and the role human sexuality plays in religion.
If you somehow found yourself with the power to travel back in time to any point in your own life to try and perfect it, would you?
I really enjoyed the fact that it avoided usual tropes and cliches for cheap laughs, and brought something fresh and original to the table.
