HAIKU REVIEW

A flip of the script;
But no real chances taken;
Sterile comedy.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:

It seemed like a decent idea to me. Take the formula for teenage sex comedy and turn it around, making it about the parents. Take a vet like Leslie Mann, add a non-PG turn for a typically charismatic John Cena, and let hijinks ensue. The problem is, it comes across feeling as neutered as the parents with their daughters’ prom dates were. It’s not funny enough to be memorable and not daring enough to help you overlook that fact. That’s not to say there are no laughs, as some of the jokes really do land, but there are too many jabs and not enough haymakers. I won’t label this a “don’t bother” because it does have its moments and a good message about trusting your kids to grow up and make their own decisions, but if you are looking for a night out with a comedy, look elsewhere.
